PART-TIME LECTURERS
The Department of Nutrition at the University of Massachusetts Amherst is seeking a pool of part-time lecturers who can teach in the new online Master of Public Health in Nutrition program through the Division of Continuing and Professional Education, as well as those who can contribute to classroom teaching on campus. The pool may be drawn from to fill vacancies that occur from Fall 2008 through Spring 2011.
Applicants must have strong demonstrated ability in teaching, and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; online teaching experience preferred (for online classes). Master's in Nutrition or equivalent, Doctorate in Nutrition or related area required for teaching graduate-level courses. R.D. desirable.
Duties: The appointee will be part of a part-time lecturer pool of the Department of Nutrition, to be selected to teach undergraduate and graduate-level online or in-person nutrition courses to a diverse body of student learners. Courses may include lower and upper division undergraduate in-person nutrition science and community nutrition courses, as well as graduate-level public health nutrition courses.

RESEARCH ASSOCIATE I
Responsible for the development and delivery of community-based programs as part of a USDA-funded nutrition assessment and outreach grant targeting limited income populations. Conduct applied research and community-based nutrition education as part of a regional USDA Food Stamp Nutrition Education Program (USDA FSNE) project.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, health or related field with five years of experience in community-nutrition for low income audiences, OR a master’s degree in nutrition, health or related field; RD status; experience in community-based nutrition education and applied research; previous work with, and knowledge of limited income audiences; excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and computer skills; ability to organize, coordinate and supervise student workers; demonstrated ability to write for lay audiences, and in data management and analysis.

Conducts nutritional evaluations, analyzes and calculates diets and provides individual nutrition counseling in a specialized inpatient and outpatient center providing interdisciplinary evaluation and treatment to children with psychiatric conditions and developmental disorders. Responsible for menu development and serving as a liaison to multidisciplinary hospital departments.
Flexible weekday schedule, Monday-Friday, but the ideal candidate will have flexibility to provide additional hours to cover vacations and peak demands
Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition, or a related area. Completion of a Dietetic Internship. Must be ADA Registered and licensed in the state of RI. Two to three years experience as a Dietician in Pediatrics.

ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR COMMUNITY NUTRITION
This is an academic year, tenure-track position beginning in fall, 2008. The responsibilities for the position include:
1) establish an independent research program in community nutrition capable of attracting external funding and leading to publications in refereed journals,
2) teach undergraduate coursework in nutrition and the lifecycle and cultural aspects of nutrition, and a graduate course in community nutrition, and
3) advise undergraduate and graduate students; supervise graduate student research; and serve on committees.
Qualifications: Earned doctorate in nutrition or closely related field; Registered Dietitian status; community nutrition experience; teaching experience at the college level; excellent written and verbal English communications skills; and demonstrated ability to develop and sustain an active, independent research program and to obtain external funding.
